The Jason Connelly Band Home

Jason Connelly, an American singer/songwriter, who spent most of his life in the U.S. Southlands, has made quite a name for himself over the past few years. In 2009, Jason set out to make music what he referred to as “music with intent”.  Since the release of his first record, Songs from Inside the Attic, in 2009, Jason Connelly and his band have gone on to release five more records. The sounds emanating from his songwriting diary reflect mostly on past memories while remaining true to his initial goal of creating music that sparks positivity and sincerity. "Don't judge a book by its cover" is what he hears quite often. The soulful sound that emits from his vocals and the blues-inspired chords that strum loudly from his rhythmic guitar are not what you'd expect to hear from his humbled nature. Jason often thanks his soulful musical influences like Bill Withers, Al Greene, Bonnie Raitt and modern musicians like Fiona Apple, Live, and Augustana for his unique sound.

Ben Kriff, otherwise known as “Benny,” has been a member of the TJCB family since April 2012. Since the introduction of Kriff, he has earned himself the right to be called not just a lead guitarist, but also a songwriter.  His first attempt at songwriting, leaves him with the distinguishing rights to why the TJCB sound continues to work and grow. Having co-written several of the TJCB’s musical scores, “Where’s Your Baby Now” showcases the magnitude of his lyrical ability. Words like “Sugaree” and phrases like “Long and dusty road,” inhabit the pulse to why Kriff’s heart continues to beat. Whether it’s his love for the deeper cuts by Lynyrd Skynyrd, or guitar melodies by his hero Warren Haynes, Kriff takes his personal passion and creates a whole new level of emotion for the TJCB sound. Who would’ve thought so much southern sounding soul could emit from a homegrown northern native raised in a rural New York town on the Canadian border.

There’s a lot to be said for a songwriter that started with just a couple of instruments, a small p.a., and a dream of writing music that others could feel shared their story. “It’s crazy how much I have learned since the beginning of this entire journey. I have watched so many things come and go, and have learned so many things about people, circumstance, and life in general. If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn’t change a thing. I’m sure that sounds cliché’, but it’s the truth. The late night anxieties, the “super emotional high five” kind of moments, and the experiences that forever change your opinions of someone or something. That’s what this music gig is all about. I only hope that we are able to portray that in the future with our music. For now, Benny and I will continue to write together and our band will continue to push the limits of what we thought would never be capable from a band of misfit friends.
